how to tell if clutch is bad

Publish Time: 2021-10-04     Origin: Site

Clutch cable adjustment is the mechanism responsible for adjusting the slack and tension of the clutch cable on the manual transmission vehicle. What is important is that the clutch cable must be adjusted to the correct degree of slack so that the clutch pedal can be effectively separated from the clutch disc when depressed.

Here is the content list:

Judge the basis of clutch damage.

If the clutch cable is loose, the slack will cause the cable not to be pulled the farthest when the pedal is depressed, and will cause clutch disconnection problems. Usually, a malfunctioning clutch cable regulator will produce symptoms that warn the driver that repairs may be required.

Analysis of the phenomenon of clutch damage.

1. Difficult to release the clutch

One of the first symptoms usually associated with a damaged or malfunctioning clutch cable regulator is difficulty in disengaging the clutch. It will cause the clutch to be unable to disengage properly, and it may cause friction when shifting gears and cause the gearbox to fail to maintain gears.

2. The clutch pedal is loose

Another symptom of a problem with the clutch cable regulator is a loose clutch pedal. This may cause the gearbox to grind when changing gears or accidentally jump out of gear.

3. The clutch cable is too tight

A tight clutch cable is another symptom of possible problems with the clutch cable adjuster. If the adjuster is stuck or adjusted too tightly, this will cause the clutch to remain slightly disengaged, even if the pedal is not depressed. This will accelerate the wear of the clutch disc and shorten its service life.

Troubleshooting measures for clutch.

Failure phenomenon:

When the engine is idling, although the clutch pedal has been depressed to the end, it is difficult to shift gears and the transmission gear makes a sound. After the gear is barely engaged, the clutch pedal has not been released, and the car has been driven or turned off.

Check:

Remove the clutch bottom cover, put the transmission into neutral, and depress the clutch to the end. Then, use a screwdriver to move the driven plate. If it can be dialed easily, it means that the clutch is separated well; if it cannot be dialed, it means that the clutch is not completely separated.

Exclude:

1. Check whether the free stroke of the clutch pedal is too large and adjust it.

2. Check whether the height of the separation lever is consistent or not too low. If the inner end of the separation lever can not be in contact with the separation bearing at the same time, it means that the height of the separation lever is inconsistent and should be adjusted. If the height of the separation lever is the same and the separation is still not complete, check the height of the lever. Adjust the separation levers to the same height. If they can be separated completely, it means that the original adjustment is improper or excessively worn. After the release lever is adjusted, the free stroke of the clutch pedal must be readjusted.

3. If the separation is still not complete after the above adjustment is normal, remove the clutch and check whether the driven disk is reversed, whether it is difficult to move axially, whether the main driven disk is warped, whether the separation lever screw is loose, and the floating pin Whether it falls off.

4. For clutches with newly riveted friction plates, check whether the driven disc and friction plates are too thick. If it is too thick, add a gasket between the clutch cover and the flywheel.

5. For hydraulically driven clutches, in addition to the above inspections, check whether the brake fluid is lacking, whether the pipeline leaks, and exhaust the air in the hydraulic system.

Most clutches require a certain amount of free play adjustment, if the adjustment is not correct, the clutch will be engaged and disengaged. Therefore, if you suspect that the clutch cable needs to be adjusted or there may be a problem with the mechanism, please contact Jiangsu Shunli Steel Group professionals to consult our clutch products!
